Appointments to the Electric Utility Board

Comment Up
Now comes the appointments to the Electric Utility Advisory Board--

The Vice Mayor had some difficulty finding a volunteer from his district. What was to be commissioner appointment per their district, got changed to at large appointments. (Four at-large members, one appointed by each one of the District Commissioners for a term of three years.) Not sure when this was changed but it must have been quite recently. Don't recall the commission voting on this change.

Instead of just allowing the appointment, they made the commission vote on each commissioner's nominee. Even the simplest of ideas becomes complicated.

The following people were chosen:

District 1: Peggy Fisher, 3 year term
District 2: Ibrahim Chalhoub, 3 year term
District 3: Lisa Maxwell, 3 year term
District 4: Commissioner Mulvehill will appoint upon her return
Mayor: Mary Lindsey who was voted in as Chair for 2 year term (that term was the original idea but who knows as things get changed)
Business owner: Caroline Clore, 2 year term...Paws on the Avenue
Palm Springs: Joni Brinkman, Council member of Palm Springs for a term of 1 year

  1. The correct spelling is Ibrahim Chalhoub and his home and business are both in district 4, not district 2. Maxwell was not the only one who went outside his district.

  2. Mary Lindsey will be a great chair. Mary is extremely knowledgeable on this subject.Great choice. However-we also have Fisher? and Maxwell??? Really?Fisher is good at reporting things back to Commissioner Scot Maxwell and Lisa Maxwell is on this board, why? Hmmm,,,,, Too bad our Commissioners could not just appoint the person of their choice. Most citizens are just fed up with the political crap in this city. Why should they put any effort into being on a board? Look at what was just done to our P&Z board. Those citizens were told, and not very politely ,to take a hike. And by the way,you can re-apply in June. If you are a friend of ours. What crap. And those of you moaning about Commissioner Mcvoy voting against an appointment-Can you imagine what would have happened if he had tried to appoint Cara Jennings? Jennings would have been very qualified for this board .Cetainly more so than Fisher and Maxwell.Katie Mcgiveron

  3. This will be one more useless board in the annals of Lake Wroth history.

  4. Where are the qualifications? Another political board? Only McVoy nominated an engineer. Where are the finance knowledge based appointments?

  5. What a joke. These are political re-treads and cronies. The one QUALIFIED person to be on the board is going to jump ship, no doubt. Why didn't someone just appoint Ramiccio?
Jennings would have been great. At least she has a deep understanding of not only LW Utilities and the contract process, but also of energy issues in general. Scary to think these people are going to advise on one of the biggest decisions this commission will make. Like the blind leading the blind. Let's hope Mulvehill appoints someone with a couple brain cells and some finance experience.

  6. First of all to complain that this board has been appointed 'politically' is redundant - ALL boards have been appointed politically - the past Commission did the exact same thing -

This Commission has appointed citizens to the Board that have analytical minds and can grasp the reality of the number crunching involved.

No more Eco- extremists who, in my opinion had a very different view of 'progress' in Lake Worth.
I for one send kudos to the Commission for their astute appointments.

  7. Just what qualifies Peggy Fisher and Lisa Maxwell to serve on this board?

  8. For that matter, what qualifies Ibrahim Chalhoub, Caroline Clore, and Joni Brinkman to serve on this board?
