Stanton not the choice in Hallandale

Comment Up
Hallandale chooses candidate who worked for them 12 years ago with no city manager experience. Read about it here

  1. Not surprising to anybody with experience in hiring & firing. Only the inexperienced rely on educational criteria after the 1st or 2nd positions in a career.
Can you imagine what Stanton's checks revealed about effectiveness, interpersonnel skills and attraction/retention of senior personnel?

  2. Can you imagine the negative comments from those who justified the firing here in LW and still, to this day, get their rocks off by their desire to see her fail at every opportunity?

I will not be accepting comments from anyone second guessing why Hallendale did what it did or attacks on Stanton or suggesting that those of us who admired her are inexperienced, uninformed, etc. and it is only YOU who knows what's up.

  3. Hallendale obviously saw the wisdom in hiring a person thoroughly versed in the City's assets, liabilities and personnel. I still wish McVoy and Mulvehill could have seen the wisdom of that in Lake Worth.

  4. This is about Hallandale so now you attack 2 commissioners by giving some generality. What about specifics? Is it that anyone can say anything about anyone these days and not have facts? This is your opinion but it would be appropriate to give your reasons here, not just throwing stones. Why is it that these two commissioners got along with Stanton? Why is it that the "visionaries" changed their minds and fired her? Why is it that the PB Post disagrees with you? The new commisison never gave specifics and now, after the fact, are dreaming up reasons that fit into their mold.

  5. The candidate they chose was highly educated--as much as Susan Stanton. Other than an ICMA certification. What she lacked was the experience which means a lot. Would you like a dentist operating on your brain? What probably cost her the job was all you losers writing Hallandale.

  6. Wasn't it pam, scott and andy who wanted Joseph Kroll. Sure has been a lot of silence about that choice. It's better to remain silent. That way no one will find out how misinformed you are. Luckily we have some highly qualified personnel in place that will pick up the slack as someone new learns the job.

  7. History is pretty good at reflecting truth.
Stanton's Casino disaster was revealed quickly after she left. Soon we will see how well her Union decisions will stand the test of time, how well she handled the greater bay lawsuit and how the Sewer sub district fiasco turn out.

  8. I wonder what the unanimous CM selection thinks of Stanton's Staff. We will probably find out in a very short period od time. After Margolis and Farrington, my guess is that carr and Walters will be in the second round. Mattey will be last because she and farrington planned it that way.

  9. 1. What was the Casino disaster?

    2. The fact that the beach redevelopment will cost us $1.7 million more is because this commission voted to do that.

    3. Union decisions--Well, I admire the hell out of her to stand up to the unions and do well by Lake Worth. No one who came before her had the guts. This commission majority certainly doesn't.

    4. The Greater Bay law suit was started before Stanton. Sometimes you have to listen to professionals. Are we to settle with everyone who wants to sue us? That would be FAILED leadership.

    5. We would not even have known about the Sewer sub district "fiasco" if it were not for Stanton. She is the one who discovered it. She is the one who brought it public. These people owe us $10 mil. This special audit has taken way too long. Hopefully, the city has the proper records in place to prove its case unlike the FEMA pier real fiasco.

  10. anonymous @ 12:26--
    What are you smoking?
    Mattey has resigned.
If they fire any of those mentioned that would be the most stupid thing this commission could ever do...It would totally prove that they
    1. do not want to ever hear the truth
    2. Interested in running the city themselves along with their vocal mentor friends.
    3. Want the development establishment to take hold of our city once again.

  11. Lynn, the cost overruns on the casino are more like 3-4 million and with the building 80% complete, it is less than 50% rented. That is a disaster. How do you think the commission is responsible for that?
Stanton never got the Union to agree to anything. She just went ahead and did things. Now the Union is overturning Stanton's actions in court.
Stanton refused to settle with Greater Bay and the sewer customers. Everybody knows the Greater bay lawsuit is a loser and the sewer audit is coming in around $1 million not 10.

  12. The Commission kicked out NYPD and Barry's Tees. I believe that there is only 1 space not rented on the ground floor (what is now known as the Fox Surf space) and one space on the upper level thanks to a less than adequate broker and a commission kicking out our long-term tenants.
The Unions are never going to agree to anything, one of the major things WRONG in this country, not just LW.
Settle with Greater Bay, the flim flam artist that is holding the city up to ransom? Are you kidding me??
Don't know anything about the sewer business. I guess you are privy to insider information. We say that they owe us $10 mil. They had a deal and because they were not billed just didn't pay us? This gives them an "out?"
