Michael Bornstein, the Virgin and Tonight's Agenda

Michael Bornstein, new city manager, will have his virgin experience on the Lake Worth dais tonight. He has already seen the commission as well as the public in action over the last month but tonight will be his first official role.

On the agenda are five presentations-- way too many. After that will be the Second Public Hearing for changing the qualifications of the Planning & Zoning Board members. This was originally brought forward by Andy Amoroso during his campaign. Although three commissioners believe this takes the politics off these Board appointments, it in fact does just the opposite. Politicians love to spin the truth.

There will also be the second hearing for the Land Development Regulations within our City. There are some people who want to build as high as they can get away with in spite of the sustainability issue. That doesn't exist in their minds and ask, "What sustainability issue?"

Building high on 25 foot lots doesn't bother them a bit. Just build it and let me earn a commission; let me earn a buck in development; let me earn a bunch of dollars as a land-use attorney. It's all about ME they say--not what the city will look like. Natural resources are forgotten issues and staff is only listened to when it is suitable for their personal agenda.
