Lunch at John G's

Comment Up
Today is Helen's birthday so the three of us celebrated.

John G's is getting 1,500 customers a day and they close at 3pm at the Plaza del Mar, the exact same time they always closed. They have the same menu that they had when they were at the Lake Worth Casino for 37 years. They have the same prices. They are doing so well down in Manalapan and they feel very lucky. Of course, no customer has to pay for parking.

So, this argument that we have to keep the beach opened until 1am because a restaurant argues that they need early morning closing in order to make money, is a crock. If you have a good product...you will always get the business.

  1. What is that you are eating? A triple cheeseburger, fries and a chocolate shake. I hope you walk home to work that off.

  2. You ladies all look beautiful! Keep up the good work in Lake Worth. Everyone's voice is important and at least the two of you I know are doing good work for our little city by the sea. Thanks for your efforts!

You ladies are just having to much fun.
You look like the type who would enjoy nothing more than a romantic evening as the full moon rises over the horizon, some Tattingers in crystal glasses not the plastic stuff you haul to the beach and for that you need a place that caters to a later crowd. ;)

  5. Lynn`s hair might be beautiful, but that could be one of her many wigs. I thought I seen her out the other night as a redhead. LOL Just kidding Lynn.

  6. I'm glad John Gs is doing well in Lantana. While I was a fan of their food I was not a fan of subsidizing their cash business for many years.

Just because you don't want to go to the beach for dining after lunch doesn't mean the rest of us who live in LW agree. I'm looking forward to dining at the beach for dinner and for after dinner drinks.

  7. I don't know why you keep saying that you subsidized them for many years. Lake Worth GAVE THEM A LEASE TO SIGN. It was not the other way around. If you want to put blame on low lease amounts, look to the City. Look to the city for giving them a dilapidated building that was never maintained too.

Next, I am not against dining at night at our new Casino. I look forward to that. I don't, however, believe that we need a bar opened until 1am. This is a beach/park, not a bar.

  8. There is more than enough blame to go around, but I agree John Gs wanted to continue their sweetheart deal post construction and the City said no (which I think was the right call).

  9. I'm sorry, but that is not the way I understand it. The City was demanding all sorts of comprehensive financials from them in order to evaluate. They had been at our casino for 37 years and were willing to pay whatever asked. They never once were late on rent. They made improvements to our building and paid for them themselves. When the roof leaked, they fixed it. They did not want to be jerked around by the city who in the end, got rid of ALL our long time tenants--not what the people wanted or expected. You don't go insulting long-term tenants to where they want to move.
