Dollars for Scholars - 6th Annual Hat Luncheon

Dee McNamara
Most Beautiful Hat

Dee McNamara's hat was made by Whiteley Hat Company Limited of Bedfordshire, England. The WHITELEY label is a designer collection of modern classic hats, contemporary headpieces and essential casual wear. Each hat is individually hand made from the finest materials using traditional skills. As Dee used to be a designer in New York City, she knows value when she sees it. Her hat was originally $580 and she bought it at World Thrift, 2425 N. Dixie Highway, Lake Worth for $1.95. So, all you gals who shun coming to this affair because of the price of a fabulous hat, don't get dissuaded. Put this event on your calendar for next year. You could be a winner!

The room was filled with former Lake Worth High graduates and friends of the school. I believe they raised a lot of money for worthy Lake Worth High School students to further their education. Since Dollars for Scholars received its Charter, it has given out $615,700. Many prizes were won by lucky attendees; I won twice. Katie McGiveron, graduate of LW High, won the women's prize for the Most Patriotic hat. Many thanks to Doris Dorsey (who wore the most beautiful hat) and her team for putting on another successful event.

The 14th Annual Awards Ceremony will be held on Wednesday, May 9, 7pm at Tommy Hansen Hall, at the Lake Worth Community High School campus. Come on out and support your local high school students.
