Susan Stanton Finalist in Hallandale

Comment Up
Susan Stanton is on the short list in Hallandale. Perhaps they will have more sense than did Lake Worth and hire her for all her experience and credentials.

  1. For any of you who are tempted to post a negative here, those comments will not be allowed. Sorry. Ms. Stanton needs a chance for employment and should have that opportunity without the personal attacks from the few in this community. She needs to have a chance to gain employment without anonymous attacks that have no substance or from those who just don't understand transgenders or from the few who did not like her personality.

As far as Mr. Boyer goes, he is still employed in Columbia the last I checked. Ask Nadine why he was fired.

  2. Yes, if we are ever going to be a city that can move forward, there must be human kindness. Some people need to get over their hatred. didn't we just make a resolution about gay pride?

  3. Yes, I agree I hope she has more success in Hallendale than she did in Lake Worth, it is all up to her. Yes human kindness is needed all around. It was not just the commissions doing we all have to take responsibility. Good luck Susan!

  4. Dear Hallandale, If you want your problems solved by someone who REALLY KNOWS how to run city, you have the right person within reach! Ms. Stanton has incredible knowledge about how to manage a city and in spite of tremendous unjustified opposition; our city has a chance to take a turn for the better; thanks to her tireless efforts. Her presence and knowledge has been missed. Hallandale Commissioners, you are lucky to have this opportunity. Take it!

  5. There are some things that we simply do NOT need a resolution for. Gay Pride is one of them. The other is Martin Luther King Day. That is a national holiday. So these resolutions are nothing but political feel goods or grandstanding. So my eyes will roll when I see stupid.

  6. To the person who just tried to attack me, take my comment above any way you like.

  7. Minority groups continue to want special favors and laws and push their weight around. They blame their lack of education or opportunity on everyone but themselves. Funny that.

  8. For a liberal city we are very uptight. Stanton was not accepted by some because she was transgendered. That is a fact. Too bad. I heard that some in the gay community didn't even like her because of that. Remember the idiots at The Cottage? Hallandale, I hope you see above this and don't have to deal with this.

  9. Get it right, it was not the Cottage that did not like Stanton. It was Stanton that did not like the Cottage./.

  10. That's right. They had a lot of code issues.

  11. I would never go to The Cottage because of what they did. Azzholes to the first degree. Businesses need to stay out of politics and pay their licenses and obey city rules. How about sweeping up the cigarette butts in front of your stores? That would help. The Cottage thought they were some exception and got the national gay community to attack Lake Worth.

  12. Just like Stanton will do with the National Transgender Community.

  13. I don't know what your implication is above anonymous or what you are trying to say--
Susan Stanton would just like to live her life but there are some, especially the press, that constantly bring this all up.
Discrimination and the disrespect transgender people experience every day whether at home or in school or on the streets is devastating and can be life threatening. They all should be treated with respect and left alone. If we all did that, this country would be transformed. She never bothered anyone but stood up for herself. Why do people continue to bother her?

  14. If Ms. Stanton is being unfairly harassed by the press, do you not think that maybe she brought it on herself? She did do a documentary on CNN " Her Name Was Steven", then went on Larry King to defend herself on doing the documentary, She literally became The Poster Child for the Transgender Community. So Again My Question is Do You Think She Brought All The Press On Herself?

  15. Stanton's reasons for doing a documentary on transgenderism is only known to herself. I am not sure if she told us the whys of it all during the CNN episode. I would suspect it was to enlighten all of us as to all she went through leading up to that decision that literally altered her life and her body. I always say, "there for the grace of God..."
None of this should be held against her or anyone else. She is now a woman. We should all let it rest now. It is over. I don't think she is being unfairly harassed by the press on this issue. I only think that they sensationalize a story by making it a very big focus. This is what is unfortunate. Now and going forward, it should all be about what she brings to the table--and that is a heck of a lot.

  16. Not that I disagree with you Lynn, But she was the one who wanted to be in the public eye, therefore she can NOT pick when she is in and when she is not..........

  17. Knowing that once she went public with her decision to transgender, it was going to be a national story and one that eventually made her lose her job in Largo. She wanted to bring it all out in the open to educate. Now everyone is. Let's move on.
