Gas Prices

Comment Up

The Associated Press reports that gas prices are now averaging $3.80 a gallon. I just paid $3.82. Along with the prices going up, up and up, Obama's ratings are going down, down and down.

CNN reported that a survey over last weekend found that gas prices jumped 12 cents over the past two weeks, with the national average price for a gallon of self-serve regular standing at $3.81.

According to a new Washington Post/ABC News survey, 65 percent of those taking it said that they disapprove of the way Obama is dealing with rising prices at the pump.

  2. President Bush nor President Obama were/are to blame for high gas prices. This is simply the free market process along with a potential conflict in Iran. Another common myth is that are prices are currently high because of oil production this is simply not true. " There are currently more oil rigs operating on U.S. lands and waters than in the rest of the world combined, production is at an eight-year high, and the most recent “Short-Term Energy Outlook” from the Energy Information Administration projects production to continue growing at least through 2013 based on current activity."

Now, when it comes to oil production here is an interesting fact to think about. Germans over the past three years have paid an average of $2.64 a gallon (excluding taxes), while Americans paid $2.69, even though the U.S. produced 5.4 million barrels of oil per day while Germany produced just 28,000.

  3. Free market my ass. There are immediate steps that Obama could take to calm down gas prices. Obamas all out war on fossil fuels is what has screwed us all.The Obamas naieve and dangerous views on fuel technology have put this country and all citizens at serious risk. And he is going to feel the wrath of pissed of Americans at the voting booths come November. Obama is the most dismal, destructive president in our history.People are finally being forced out of their "yes we can" comas and realizing that they are MUCH WORSE OFF than they were 4 years ago.
