Only in Lake Worth do we elect people that promise to do the best thing for the people but rarely do we find any politician who is not self-serving. We have been lucky over the last few years to elect a few that have been highly ethical with nothing on their agenda but making the best decisions for Lake Worth.
Tonight at 6:30 there is a special meeting to whittle down the Commission's short list to three applicants for the city manager's job. The new "visionaries" all have selected Joe Kroll as one of their top 8 candidates, a man with absolutely NO city manager experience. 66 Resumes were submitted and 3 commissioners all in rapture with each other have selected Kroll.
We all have known from the very beginning of this exhausting enterprise what the intent was--hire Joe Kroll, the guy who was always available to fulfill their wishes at their beckoning call.
If you go by their tallies, the five Top Candidates on the Short List:
Michael Bornstein with 5 votes
Richard Gestrich with 4 votes (Amoroso was the only commissioner who did not have him on his short list)
TIED WITH 3 VOTES EACH:
Joe Kroll with 3 votes (On Triolo, Maxwell and Amoroso's short list)
James Titcomb with 3 votes (Triolo, Maxwell and Amoroso)
Bonnie Therrien with 3 votes
All three of them picked Joe Kroll. This is very very bad. This city will get nowhere with him. Our best remaining staff will leave. This city will go straight to hell in a matter of months.
ReplyDeleteI know Joe and think he is just the kind of guy we need. He is fair, honest and knows our city. He was respected by staff and treated like dirt by Stanton who knew he was out to get her job should the political climate change. Bottom line is Joe will tell us the truth and play his cards straight up. Give the guy a 5 year contract so politics will not play a role in his decisions. lets join together for once and give Joe a chance to make a difference. That's assuming your right and he has the job.
ReplyDeleteFired city manager Susan Stanton has 30 years experience.
ReplyDeleteDo you need any further proof that experience is pointless?
This guy shouldn't get any contract. I heard he wants $250,000 a year. LMAO
ReplyDelete66 QUALIFIED ,experienced candidates and Joe Kroll, who is neither of these things when it comes to being a city manager, ends up on the short lists of three Commissioners? If Joe Kroll is hired, then this whole process has been nothing but a sick joke on every candidate that entered into the process thinking that it was AN HONEST PROCESS and not just some SICK,CORRUPT GAME!!!Pam Triolo and Andy Amaroso, I voted for you because I wanted genuine, honest Commissiners trying to make the best choices for the tax payers of lake Worth.I really am sickened by this whole thing. Katie Mcgiveron
ReplyDelete"Fired city manager Stanton" was fired because of politics-Maxwell, Triolo and Amoroso not because she was a bad CM. These people want a puppet.
ReplyDeleteCORRUPTION
ReplyDeleteI just got off the phone with a city clerk of a nearby city who worked with Kroll. She brought up tonight's meeting. Regarding Kroll, she said, NO, NO, he is a public works guy, not a city manager.
ReplyDeleteKroll tried to double garbage rates in the last budget. When asked to support the need to raise rates, he made up lies and Mulvehill smacked him down.
ReplyDeleteDo we really want this guy managing the finances of our city?
Experienced city managers get fired all the time over politics. Experienced people in every field get fired or laid off. That's a stupid reason to minimize their experience and the positive impact they've had. Most of us would be unemployed if that was the measure.
If fired city manager Susan Stanton was such a great city manager why did she leave Lake Worth in such a mess?
ReplyDeleteOr have you not seen any of the revelations of the past couple of months?
If she's so great why is she still looking for a job?
I just off off the phone with a local public works guy. He said Joe Kroll would be a much better city manager than Susan Stanton.
I heard Joe Kroll will work for 75% of the salary fired city manager Susan Stanton was getting and he guaranteed to do a better job.
Go figure.
After the visionaries hire Joe Kroll you all can go back to voting for the cabal's latest puppet candidate. At least the city will have a decent city manager.
I don't know jack about what it'll take to be a good city manager. But I know that the biggest criticism of Stanton often came down to how she was not good with personnel relations. Krull is the opposite, everyone loved him, and acknowledged that he was easy and smooth to work with.
ReplyDeleteThere seems a likelihood that the triumvirate will overreact and pick him to cover what this perceived weakness of Stanton had been, as if that had anything to with LW's bigger problems. Stanton is gone but her spirit lingers. The three should act with caution and not overcompensate against someone they reviled. That's OVER. Pick someone experienced.
Five year contracts are irrelevent, CMs are often fired.

Dear Anon @ 8:06 am I know Joe too and you are correct 'he is fair, honest and knows our city' but, there is a rub! HE IS SIMPLY NOT QUALIFIED!!! There is a big differnce between 'knowing' a city and 'running' a city dontcha' think?
ReplyDeleteTo 11:03 am anonymous - Recall the CM words 'profoundly broken' - she fixed as much as she could in the time allotted by the bad judgment of the commission. She may not have done everything to everyone's liking but she darn well tried. I wonder how well your work would be judged by a bully pulpit! And, do not kid yourself, the lightened agendas and any future 'leisure' the sitting commission may experience is because of her efforts. There was alot of c$#% to clean up!
ReplyDeleteIt certainly seems like the paranoia is in. With Michael Bornstein having 5 votes and
ReplyDeleteRichard Gestrich having 4 votes, your guily conscience seems to be troubling you.
If Joe Kroll is picked and ends up in the top three, and that is highly likely, there is every possibility, anonymous, that he WILL be the city manager. There is no paranoia here. Just the facts, anonymous at 4:38. As one discusses the resumes tonight, all of the choices are subject to change. So, what about that "guilty" conscience? It's called common sense. We need a little of that in this city.
ReplyDeleteStanton did duch a great job that she forgot to tell the commission how much the beach project was going to really cost. her actions have gotten us sued and we have looked like fools over and over again. God only knows what other things she kept hidden from the commission. Thank God she is gone.
ReplyDeleteOk, looky here--hate has overtaken your facts of the matter or any rational thinking when it comes to Susan Stanton. Susan Stanton was hired AFTER Greater Bay was kicked out of town.
ReplyDeleteTIED WITH 3 VOTES EACH:
ReplyDeleteJoe Kroll with 3 votes (On Triolo, Maxwell and Amoroso's short list)
James Titcomb with 3 votes (Triolo, Maxwell and Amoroso)
Bonnie Therrien with 3 votes"
How did they get from the 3 applicants with 3 votes each to the 2 applicants?
I liked Joe Kroll. He was proactive, fair, a good leader, and his staff and the people that worked with him liked him. That said, there were two candidates that got 4 and five votes each. There were some amazing applicants. I noticed all top 5 were local...Or top 3 plus 2 alternates...whatever. I feel whoever they select....we will have a great City Manager...and sooner than everyone expected. In the interview process the public will get a chance to meet the candidates....I think that is pretty sweet. Thanks City of Lake Worth!!!
ReplyDeleteMr. Titcomb received a total of 4 votes. Commissioners Mulvehill, Amoroso, Maxwell and Mayor Triolo voted for him. I was at the meeting. Thank you, just correcting the reporting fact.
ReplyDeleteThanks anonymous. That is true. The pre-meeting tally was as reported. They changed their minds last night during this poltiical vote.
