Don't worry about the Blood, Sweat and Tears, the other guy pays

Actually the American dream has changed. There has been an about face. It used to be you worked hard and reaped the rewards for your blood, sweat and tears.

Whoever said that this isn't the greatest country on Earth? Is it the dozen of losers demonstrating against Congressmen Allen West, a man who believes in fiscal responsibility and wants to keep our country free from harm? Is it all those occupying here and there moaning about everything under the sun? Is it all those freeloaders with their hands out? What about all of those who want a FREE down-payment and a house they can buy for pennies on the real dollar?

Our CRA got $23 million from the government and they must spend it. They are building townhouses on Lucerne when all they have to do is look around at all the empty ones all across town. They want you to come in and see if you qualify for one of their brand new or wholly renovated homes with high efficiency windows to boot. They have to rehab or build 130 houses and are only on their 4th house. That dedication will be on Friday, March 30 at 9:30 am at 511 S. D. Street. Don't miss it.

  1. Lynn, I thought you were all for helping someone down on there luck. At least that is what you keep chanting about Stanton. How can you have it both ways?

  2. Apples and oranges when you are talking about Susan Stanton who was a hard worker and is still looking diligently in her field.

Yes, there are some people down on their luck. They need temporary help to get themselves back on their feet but I have a problem with those people expecting hand-outs as if the world owes them a living--never rising above it and never wanting to, never finding a job and never looking. People who expect the government to do it all for them.

  3. I hardly think the CRA is going to be handing out artist lofts to welfare queens.

  4. They "hand out" to a certain income level. We don't need more affordable housing. One of the problems with slum and blight has been low cost housing. One of the problems with it as well is attracting the criminals and the gangs. Homeowner occupancy will help but we have seen the way of the housing market with a remarkable number of foreclosures with more expected as well as property values going down again this year. We are attracting more poor people to LW. This trend of giving everything to the poor, rather than helping them find jobs or creating jobs, has escalated in the past several years. With socialism, what else can you expect? Tax the 1% more to pay for it all?

They will have to have a certain income to pay for these townhouses on Lucerne. Will they be able to afford the electric bill?

  5. Most likely not if they are anything like mine, and in the summer I turn my A/C off in the morning when I go to work, and do not turn it on until I get home at 10-11 pm at night (yes I work LONG hour.) And my bill May thru October is over the moon for a 1000 sq. foot home sometimes 4 times as much with my friends who have FPL.
You did bring up a good point though, low housing value and dropping more this year. HOW do you think this city has a chance of surviving without the assessments that you are so against?

  6. I have said recently, don't be surprised of a special assessment in this upcoming budget year. And yes, I am against special assessments in principal as they hit the poor disproportionately. We need to live within a normal budget. If this takes reducing costs and delaying capital projects until the economy turns, so be it. It should be interesting to see what Bornstein will do.

  7. So glad some understand this is about power and control of your Property! They (Sustainability Czar)want it - there is a City "Housing Initiative" fund to resell and rent the houses the city is now set up to steal from you. Read the Nuisance abatement Ordinance and how the city has 'preferred" themselves over the MORTGAGE HOLDER!
Their addiction to GRANT and over spending is causing the problem - When will they OBEY the CHARTER and have the open mic public forums so WE THE PEOPLE can have our say? 2 minutes per topic is CRIMINAL at our public meetings! How's that transparent and open? It IS NOT! It is Deceptive and draining trying to keep up w/them. It is physically impossible to attend the meetings and for a 'green' city - we have huge agenda's to print up at HUGE EXPENSE!
Where's the missing ZIP meeting where the audio failed and the content was questioned from the Dais by a commissioner...but they still published the ZIP Ordinance info in the paper.
Assessments are coming - and OH baby they are coming - just do the math. Why are they afraid to hear from us? Mayor Triolo is talking about coffee or lunch when we all work - Bread and Circus - Nero fiddling while Rome Burns!

Read ALL the Words - and ADD ALL the Numbers.

Here's something to consider - Add all the CRA Admin costs - benefits/car stipend etc. then divide it by 4 houses and please post how that is 'fair and equitable' for everyone?

The emperor has no clothes on - pay attention Lake Worth or Pay the Price!
