Pet Peeves - What is yours?

Comment Up
Grrr, when I am driving my car, I have a Triple A personality and use all sorts of profanity, words some of which have never been heard by any human. I am not sure who bugs me the most--drivers speeding and weaving in and out of traffic with a death wish (mine) or those driving like turtles 10 miles under the speed limit. When the light changes, they take 5 hours to step on the gas.

Let's hear it--
What is your pet peeve?

Right about now, we probably have more things to gripe about than usual--taxes going up 7%, special assessments, the possibility of paying for downtown parking, shortening the hours that we can park downtown, garbage going up, you name it. So, Let's hear your peeve.

  1. I don't like Commission meetings that last until one or two in the morning. I don't like the blue comment cards.I don't like the Commissioners spending two hours arguing about certain issues. Have they never seen the stuff before?SPEAK UP CITY ATTORNEY! SHUT UP CITY MANAGER! I don't like all the bicycles weaving around town.I don't like being taxed to death by the city of Lake Worth.

  2. I get really hopping made when I see all these little signs all over the place. Our city has way too many signs.

  3. people who throw their cigarette butts on the ground or just litter in general. Nasty souls. They should be exterminated.

  4. That goes for the merchants downtown who don't sweep up the cigarettes in front of their stores and don't keep the place clean. On many occasion it is a pigsty in front of some places. The other thing having to do with smokes is when someone leans over to talk to you and has just smoked. Gross.

  5. No enforcement of laws like right on red at Lucerne and Dixie.

Bikes on sidewalks all over the city, especially by the illegals, but by many others too.

Blue cards at meetings to speak.

City leaders not returning calls and e-mails about concerns we have as citizens.

People openly drinking alcohol at the beach all over there and no one enforces it.

Restaurants in downtown take up too much sidewalk space and it is hard to walk downtown.

Sanctuary illegal city where anything goes here by the illegals.

Public drunkenness and walking about town with open alcohol containers is a real problem.

No one stops at a stop sign any more, they all just yield or don't even stop.

Overgrown and uncared for lots throughout the city and no code enforcement to make our city look better.

A bi-polar CM who makes it hard to talk to her or is not approachable and willing to address our problems one on one.

  11. TAXES. At least Obama wants to tax the rich. IN Lake Worth, it's just the opposite.

  12. Bugs in the house!
And a Commission who isn't smart or strong enough to get the job done.

  13. Anarchists who try to take over a town, instead of starting their own and letting people who want to live that way, come to them.

  14. Terrorists. Cara Jennings is no threat.

  15. Here's a quote in the Post today regarding banks possibly donating foreclosed houses to the city: "Donated properties would be placed in a land bank that could be used for low-income housing, open space or community gardens."

My pet peeve is that the commission is hell bent on keeping Lake Worth poor. We don't need community gardens and low-income housing. We have enough of both. Low-income housing = low propery values = not enough revenue to run a city properly. As a result we're taxed to the max an nickeled and dimed for basic services.

We need a commission that wants prosperity and MIDDLE CLASS housing!
