One of the Million Reasons why I live here

This Great White Egret has been visiting every day

In some parts of the southern United States, such as our great State of Florida, the Great Egret numbers have declined due to habitat loss--development. Nevertheless, it adapts well to human habitation and can be readily seen near wetlands and bodies of water in urban and suburban areas. That's why this one loves Lake Osborne.

Human encroachment on marshes, lakes, and rivers is now the number one threat to Florida's water birds. Today, all of Florida's wading water birds are protected by law.

Endangered Species.
