Quote of the Day - Susan Stanton

Comment Up
"Lake Worth is an extremely difficult town to bond with and to manage," Stanton said. "It's so polarized it tends to be kind of toxic."

~Susan Stanton

City manager Susan Stanton is taking some heat on the above statement that was in the Beth Johnston article in yesterday's on-line PB Post. The statement is accurate and true.

There are a couple of politically charged Lake Worth blogs that love to be harmful, malicious and harsh (or toxic) towards our city manager that can't stand Stanton using the word "toxic." One actually has called for her firing. The Mayor has condemned her for using the word (her right of free speech) and on top of everything else, he gave Stanton a terrible performance review.

What can be expected in this city that is so toxic?

  1. Maybe Stanton and her puppet Commissioners would not have a "TOXIC" environment if they quit spitting in the faces of the taxpayers!Chickens, downtown parking, not protecting single family neighborhoods,Etc,etc. We are supposed to be good,non-toxic sheep while we get crapped on again and again? As far as I'm concerned, these idiots can take tose blue cards at city hall and shove them where the sun don't shine. And, no,I don't mean city hall!

  2. Her statement does nothing to diminish the toxicity of the political environment here - it makes it worse. And I hope you don't include my blog in the list of ones that are malicious to our City Manager - critical, yes - hostile, no.

  3. Wes, you are a perfect angel towards our CM.

Actually I blame this on the Commission. They are the boss. They simply need to tell the CM not to give personal opinions in an interview...stick to business. That's it!

  4. Beth Johnston is leaving us... Once a glass is emptied it can be refilled. I prefer a sweeter less political drink myself. Good luck Ms. Johnston.

  5. Stanton has reflected the toxic and hostile tone to the citizens in how she reacts to them, it is only a true reflection of how she treats most people, it is reflected back at her like a mirror does. When she changes her attitude and improves the way she treats people and listens and does her job better, then maybe things will change for her, it is her fault that she is getting this knee jerk reaction, she is too reactive and hateful toward so many, it is her own insecurity that is hurting relationships here, she doesn't though want to know or hear this though, until she does, it is not going to get less hostile or toxic in the city unfortunately, it has to come from her. It takes her looking from within to improve the overall air in this city. Time will tell if she will change for the better.

  6. Maybe...I just don't know Susan that way. She knew coming in here that she would have to be a super tough manager. She had no idea that the Staff was so inept on so many levels. Everyone and his brother were giving her advice on how to do her job, someone with 17 years experience in this field. She knows what she's doing and she is not into the pretty pleases to get it done. Relationships can heal and she can have time to be Ms. Goody Two Shoes AFTER she gets our city on track. This is probably why she has grabbed the power. Just a guess. Anything that I might strongly object to I blame on the Commission.
