Politicians getting in the way of protecting Florida's waters

A Republican goal is to reduce the department of Environmental Protection as well as many of its standards. This is something that Allen West wants as well. Something to do with interfering with business.

U.S. Congressman Tom Rooney and U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio have each tacked an amendment onto "must pass" federal budget proposals. The amendments will prohibit the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency from limiting the amounts of excessive and harmful phosphorus and nitrogen that can be flushed into Florida's waters.
