Commissioner in Tallahassee for Immigration Protest

Comment Up
There is no way on this Earth that we will agree with someone 100% of the time. This is one of those times.

Guess who said--(Speaking about our Florida Legislation abandoning immigration reform) “These folks work. They spend money in the community. They pay taxes in the community.”

Answer--Commissioner Christopher McVoy.

He really thinks there will be racial profiling and wants Tallahassee to forget about any immigration reform. Gads. Is there some sort of payback going on? Why would one of our commissioners want to be there? Why is Lake Worth involved?

Read about it HERE.

  1. This was received in an e-mail. It is NOT my post--

Mcvoy needs to keep his a$$ here in Lake Worth ! We have MORE THAN ENOUGH PROBLEMS TO OCCUPY HIS TIME !!!He couldn't take the time out of his schedule to go on a crime walk here in Lake Worth in the SOSA neighborhood, but he can go to TALAHASSEE ! If he had been on the crime walk in THE CITY WHERE HE WAS ELECTED!!! He would have seen crumbling buildings ,code violations posted on doors FROM 2008 !!!,unpaved roads, drug dens ETC, ETC !!Jesus ,Mcvoy ,what is wrong with you? You seem to be nothing but Stanton's puppet. I'm beginning to be sorry I voted for you . Don't bother to ask for my help next election cycle. You can get the illegals and the city legal department to knock on doors for you.

  2. McVoy's social agenda comes first as it does with Golden. He was elected to represent this city and he should put the city first. Instead he represents his own personal agenda which is identical to Cara Jennings. He has no business being a commissioner.

  3. Chris McVoy makes an excellent commissioner. I just do not agree with him on illegal immigration. What he does on his personal time, I suppose, is just that--personal. He didn't get arrested or do anything stupid other than just attending the demonstration. However he made it known that he was a Lake Worth Commissioner and here is the rub. As long as he votes in the manner his constituents want him to vote, then there is no problem for me. NO more Mentoring Centers as an example. NO chickens. NO Third World BS.

  4. McVoy was not thinking this time.

  5. Dr. McVoy's initial venture into negotiating with FMPA resulted in an alarmingly embarassing public display of incompetence and unpreparedness. Wasn't this his main platform while campaigning, his "expertise" in utilities?
Dr. McVoy appears confused and uneasy on the dais, outmatched by Golden and Mulvehill which says alot.
Before the old casino is even knocked down Dr. McVoy is already looking to give rents away for less than what the city should receive.
Dr. McVoy never apologized for his involvement and public lying regarding the beach casino zoning fraud that was used on the uninformed citizens of the city.
Dr. McVoy pays so close attention at the commission meetings he asked about the lack of bike racks at the beach minutes after the vendor had discussed over 40 spots for bikes.
Dr. McVoy, despite living in maybe the most blighted section of the city has never said one word about better code enforcement or cleaning up the city.
Yes, I guess based on your grading curve his short, abysmal record makes him an excellent commissioner.
You also said Mulvehill would make a great mayor.

  6. McVoy is ALWAYS thinking. He just has a more evolved thought process than most people.

There seems to be a new tradition in District 2 post-McKinnon: Political courage. I like.

Much better than the old tradition: Napping on the dais and waking up at the end of the meeting to spew a pithy quote.

I disagree with your entire assessment.
And yes, Mulvehil would make a great mayor.

  8. McVoy is very smart. He is learning and I am rather sure he will be a quick learner. Colleen, you supported his opponent so you were very biased here. This is only one thing, undocumented immigrants. You can't judge someone on one issue unless you are totally stupid. He has not cost the city one dime now has he, unlike your friends of the past, Clemens, Vespo and Lowe.

  9. How can you disagree with the post at 12:39? That's not an opinion. Those are facts about McVoy. How can you disagree with facts?

  10. I NEVER disagree with facts--just your OPINION.

  11. I believe negotiations with FMPA were way before Mcvoy's time.
