Statutes on the CRA and its Accountability

Comment Up
Florida Statutes 163 (111)

The governing body of the county or municipality shall designate a chair and vice chair from among the commissioners. An agency may employ an executive director, technical experts, and such other agents and employees, permanent and temporary, as it requires, and determine their qualifications, duties, and compensation. For such legal service as it requires, an agency may employ or retain its own counsel and legal staff. An agency authorized to transact business and exercise powers under this part shall file with the governing body, on or before March 31 of each year, a report of its activities for the preceding fiscal year, which report shall include a complete financial statement setting forth its assets, liabilities, income, and operating expenses as of the end of such fiscal year. At the time of filing the report, the agency shall publish in a newspaper of general circulation in the community a notice to the effect that such report has been filed with the county or municipality and that the report is available for inspection during business hours in the office of the clerk of the city or county commission and in the office of the agency.

So what's the secrecy with the CRA and why the vote Mayor and Commissioner Maxwell?

  2. This City is full of the worst politics of any city. They all want to grab the money and not have to answer to anyone. Herman Robinson got a grant for his store space. Shanon Materio got one. How many others got taxpayer money and for what? Because they could and no one said a damn word.

  3. Last night the Planning & Zoning Board had a brief segment on Ethics. It was interesting. I don't believe that this would be allowed to happen--a Board member receiving a Grant from the very Board it oversees.

  4. Was Materio a board member when she got my tax dollars for her business? The CRA needs to be redistricted OUT of our downtown area. There needs to be some explanation of why our own local very well qualified contractors were ignored in favor of guys who came from the same place Oliva came from. Coincidence or pay to play?

  5. I just heard that the CRA is directing the Commission to their web site for any information. Such arrogance.
