Lake Worth Ribbon Cutting Event

Comment Up

Susan Stanton said, "The city needs something to feel good about." I would feel very good if the City stopped spending money on superfluous and unnecessary things. She does not think that the completion of the casino will be as important as the beginning.

The Commission felt that we should tone down the event, spend less money than what was suggested with Commissioner Maxwell saying that it was a perception issue. Nope. It's so much more than that Commissioner.

Let's stop the waste of taxpayer money.

  1. I could not agree with you more. Let the businesses on the beach pony up for the cost of the celebration. They will certainly have the most to celebrate.

  2. I know that was just the normal sarcasm I get from time to time here but to be honest, most of these merchants will not be able to afford the rents once this casino is built. I am also sure that will not sadden yu one little bit.

  3. There was no sarcasm intended. The businesses in downtown W.P.B. chipped in to pay for the waterfront fireworks.Surely John G's can help, they seem to be doing O.K. It does sadden me to hear that any business will not be able to make it anywhere in Lake Worth. Please don't assume the negative my comment was an honest attempt to find ways to get people to take ownership in their city and not just want a handout(party). When all is said and done which ever businesses survive at the casino will have much to celebrate. Isn't that the reason we are doing it in the first place. To make it a better beach experience for all, merchants, citizens, and visitors.Sorry if I came off sarcastic to you. It's not easy to get the message across and for you to read it in the same way it is intended.

  4. Thank you. I get super sensitive when it comes to our beach merchants. They have taken a lot of criticism from some. I hope that they all can make market rent.

  5. Stanton is correct. The city does need something to feel good about. We will happily accept her resignation. We'll all feel good about that when it happens
