Great Sunday in Lake Worth

It started out with lunch at Rotelli's (they have the most fabulous Eggplant cakes) and then on to our wonderful Lake Worth Playhouse. Held in an historically designated 1924 building, we are so lucky to have this magnificent resident, community playhouse in our city, its 58th Season.

Guys and Dolls ends this week so don't miss it. Even some of you who think that going to a play is just not your bag, once you see one of the shows, you will change your mind..maybe even give up football! Let's support community theater.

After the show, we wandered over to the Heritage Festival just in time to see a little of the festival before closing time. We caught the act on stage by the Across The Universe Beatles Tribute Band.

In 1963, the Beatles appeared on the Ed Sullivan Show and I thought them goofy looking. We were, afterall, used to boys in crew cuts. In 1966, John Lennon said, "We're more popular than Jesus now." I didn't learn to appreciate their music until decades later.

The idea of this Fest is to "celebrate diversity," so says the Chamber. On Saturday, Latin America was featured. Yesterday the focus was on "people from the USA, Finland, Ireland and others. Entertainment, dancing, ethnic foods and a unique arts and crafts show will all be a part of the celebration."

As this is a Lake Worth Chamber of Commerce event, does the Chamber get Bryant Park, OUR park, for free? Is "diversity" a one-way street for the Chamber of Commerce when it plays politics, coming out against Amendment 4 and supporting two local candidates over the others?

In spite of these questions, it was a good time and a great day of fun in Lake Worth.
