Florida Hometown Democracy--the only hope for Florida

Folks, the ONLY people who are against Florida Hometown Democracy and have to resort to lies and misinformation are those who have the most to lose monetarily. They have no interest in the overall welfare of Florida and could care less about urban sprawl, our natural resources as well as our wildlife.
  • The Chamber of Commerce--more growth, more business, more members, more dollars.
  • Land Use & real estate attorneys--more growth, more business, more clients, more dollars.
  • Realtors--more growth, more business, more clients, more dollars
  • Developers--more growth, more business, more home buyers, more dollars
  • Municipal governments--more growth, more tax dollars (they think)
Well, you get the picture. Comprehensive Plans are not in place so that politicians can change a land use whenever it is politically advantageous for them to do so. They are there to protect the people. You can take the Sunset property as a case in point. This neighborhood is Single Family 7. What did our Planning & Zoning Board and three commissioners do? They annexed in a parcel of land into this neighborhood and gave a favorable land-use to an owner/developer that is inconsistent to the neighborhood of 450 properties. Once the land-use is changed, there goes the neighborhood.

    Citizens finally having a voice in what kind of growth will happen where they live.You cannot imagine how this scenario terrifies the opponents of Florida Home Town Democracy.Currently, growth in Florida depends on the symbiotic relationships between politicians that need campaign money and developers that need their projects approved.Developers are like all of us. They want to do the least amount of work for the greatest amount of rewards.A project needing the approval of one or two politicians,or a project requiring the approval of a whole community ? Politicians having to depend on the community for their funding,or the deep pockets of a few well connected developers that they only have to give a couple of votes to ?!? Right.Their eyes are rolling back in their greedy little heads.It's about time.How much money has the Lake Worth Chamber of Commerce given to the opponents of Florida Home Town Democracy ?     You can add to the list of those who have the most to lose “when” Amendment 4 passes, all seven board members of the Fla. Fish and Wildlife “Con”servation “Con”mission.
