Trump rethinks livestream plan for Nidal Hasan firing squad execution
President Trump is privately rethinking a plan to livestream the firing-squad execution of Fort Hood shooter Nidal Hasan after bipartisan criticism that the broadcast would cheapen justice rather than deliver it.Hasan’s death sentence is still set for Dec. 3. The question now is whether the American public will watch it live.
Axios reported Monday that the president has expressed reservations about the unprecedented broadcast, citing four people who have spoken with him. One confidant outside the administration said Trump indicated the livestream “might not happen.” A source familiar with his tone added that he “didn’t sound particularly enthusiastic.”
War Secretary Pete Hegseth had announced the plan only days earlier. He framed the public broadcast as a necessary show of consequences. Trump first backed it, then said he would make the final call himself.
The execution itself remains on schedule either way. Administration officials have been clear on that point. What is in doubt is the camera.

Well I'm Catholic and I'm against the death penalty, euthanasia, and abortion. So I would never watch something like this I think it's wrong I think all murder is wrong and two wrongs do not make a right. I think somebody who commits murder should suffer the rest of their lives and rot in hell in jail it's a lot more suffering for them than just putting them out of their misery and killing them. Let God be in charge of our lives from natural conception to natural death.

DeleteI understand how you feel but the death penalty is given to certain people who have committed heinous crimes, particularly premeditated murder. They demand the ultimate punishment and that execution is a moral obligation of justice to balance the harm done. Hopefully, it is a deterrent to someone who wants to commit murder.
ReplyDeleteThe Pope disagrees with you...but what does he know, right?
