Top Gulf Cartel Boss Nabbed in Guanajuato

They picked him up on March 5, 2026. The target: Roberto “Beto” Bazán Salinas. He’s a high-ranking operator for the Gulf Cartel.

The arrest came from a coordinated binational push. U.S. Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) worked with Mexico’s Attorney General’s Office (FGR). Interpol and the DEA chipped in. ICE had already put him on an international arrest warrant and listed him among priority targets on January 21, 2026.

Authorities say Bazán Salinas ran logistics for massive drug shipments. Cocaine. Methamphetamine. Marijuana. The routes moved product from the Matamoros region in Tamaulipas into the United States. Prosecutors describe multimillion-dollar loads and a clear cross-border pipeline.

HSI offices in Monterrey, Matamoros, and Beaumont led the probe. Finding him in Guanajuato — far from the cartel’s old northeastern stronghold — shows how far these groups can spread. They follow weakness. They exploit gaps.

  1. Trump did this!

Florida gas prices have skyrocketed in response to the conflict in Iran.

On Monday, the state average was $3.49, the most expensive daily average since August 2024, according to AAA. The state average is 60 cents more than a week ago, 63 cents more than a month ago and 39 cents more than this time last year.

The most expensive metro market is West Palm Beach-Boca Raton at an average of $3.62.

The Strait of Hormuz, a narrow waterway in the Middle East, handles roughly 20% of the world’s oil. Because of the Iran conflict, traffic there has come to a complete stop over safety concerns, limiting the global supply of oil. Crude oil prices jumped 36% last week, the largest price increase in 20 years.

The jump in oil prices, combined with a $0.67-per-gallon rise in gasoline futures, pushed gas prices higher and will likely continue to influence pump prices in the days ahead.
