Federal Judge Bars New Detainees, Construction at ‘Alligator Alcatraz’
The judge also ordered that some other aspects of the facility be dismantled as current detainees are moved elsewhere
Yesterday U.S. Judge Kathleen Williams, nominated by Barack Obama, a lower court judge in the District Court for the Southern District of Florida, sided with environmental groups who had brought suit against the facility, saying that it endangers the Everglades and its wildlife. The federal judge ordered President Donald Trump and the state of Florida to stop sending detainees to “Alligator Alcatraz,” a detention center for illegal immigrants in the Everglades, and barred new construction there.
In a court order, Williams said that authorities cannot “[bring] any additional persons onto the site who were not already being detained at the site at the time of this Order going into effect.”
Williams also ordered that some other aspects of the facility be dismantled as current detainees are moved elsewhere.
Specifically, authorities have been banned from “installing any additional industrial-style lighting ... or doing any paving, filling, excavating, or fencing, or ... any other site expansion,” Williams wrote.
The ruling also ordered the removal of some equipment and supporting infrastructure at the remote facility.
The order said that authorities must remove “all generators, gas, sewage, and other waste and waste receptacles that were installed to support this project,” within 60 days. Some fencing and additional lighting that had already been installed must also be removed.
The State of Florida has appealed.

Commissioner McVoy was part of the lawsuit so he wins for now.
The Everglades was the big winner here.
ReplyDeleteThe winner was the Demcrats with their liberal agenda and of course, the illegal criminals. Now these criminals will be deported quicker until the State wins its appeal, which it will.
ReplyDeleteNo. It was definitely the Everglades.
ReplyDeleteSometimes winners aren't Democratic or Republican. They don't claim a team. They're for all of us.
It's okay to acknowledge it. It's not a bad thing. And it's the truth.
The lawsuit was hogwash, and had nothing to do with the Everglades environment--this is a huge LIE, and shame on Chris for being part of if. If this was honestly about making the Everglades a healthier ecosystem, then the much bigger environmental threats should have been eliminated also--or before hand....these being the massive ground water pollution caused by the Indian tribe and all people living and doing tourist business around this area that are using old fashioned Septic Systems, which cause ground water pollution all over America where they are allowed, and shame on these environmental activists for ignoring this in order to play politics. And if that was not enough, what about the insane noise pollution of the Airboats making money from tourists, while leaking gas and oil all over the swamp? It makes me sick to see people calling themselves ENVIRONMENTALISTS ignore these destructive practices in order to LIE to America and a leftist Judge that Alligator Alcatraz is an environmental problem. The lie gets even worse, when you realize that they are telling this lie so that they can protect and keep illegal migrant CRIMINALS in South Florida. They want to protect Criminals over legal Americans. I am DONE with putting up with this, and I plan to make a stink about it in every public forum where this gets discussed. Chris, you screwed up. You do not have the right to protect criminal aliens over legal Lake Worth residents, and you dont have the right to lie about the effects of the detention center relative to the polluting behaviors by the tribe--that you ignore. This is BS.
ReplyDeleteLynn, I have told you often eniugh the Mcvoy is a communist.
ReplyDeleteHe is a commie and anarchist too for sure, liberal left lunatic hater!
DeleteThe Supreme Court should side with Trump and Florida and allow this temporarily!
ReplyDelete@3:43pm--I do not think McVoy is a Communist but he is an Alt-Left liberal Democrat.
ReplyDeleteAlligator Alcatraz should be considered a matter of National Security and beyond the reach of the pettiness of the Obama judge that rendered the ridiculous verdict. Trump and DeSantis should keep this running despite the little judge's decision.
ReplyDeleteI agree, amen!
DeletePresident Trump and the government need to just ignore this judge and keep doing what they're doing that's what the American people want not what this idiot judge thinks he has the right to do in blocking this the Supreme Court already spoke and president Trump just needs to ignore what he's doing and not even follow anything about what he's doing at all!
