DeSantis launches DOGE audits beginning July 31

DOGE coming to Florida

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announced on-site audits of city and county governments starting July 31, targeting areas with complaints from taxpayers of wasteful spending.

The Florida governor specifically called out Broward County, saying it raised property taxes by nearly 50% since 2020, even though its population reportedly grew by less than 5%. DeSantis emphasized that these audits are now required by law and local governments must cooperate. How about Palm Beach County next?

The state is demanding 7 pages of data from targeted municipalities, ranging from compensation and contracts to spending on climate programs and DEI initiatives.
