On Crime - Lake Worth

Comment Up

Last night during public commentary I talked about the rampant crime in Lake Worth. After I spoke, a sheriff deputy was sitting in the back row and called me over.  He pulled up graphs with figures on his laptop showing the overall stats and that crime is down from last year in many categories. He mentioned the recent prostitution stings they just conducted and the arrests and I said, "oh the fun and games (sex is fun, right?) but we have "real" crime in our neighborhoods." I told him I was getting my Conceal License and he replied, "Good."

This city is full of crime and the PBSO knows it. Look north, east, south and west and you will see the biggest crime wave we have ever had. Why is that?  The drug addiction wave could be one reason. Why is it that we spend more than we’ve ever spent on public safety? There is NO public safety.  The criminals are winning this game.

The city is getting shot up, vandalized and victimized. We plan on calling the sheriff each and every time we see a crime, which is daily.  We have had 16-17 shootings some resulting in death.

They used to be like cockroaches but now they are unafraid of the Sheriff, they’re not afraid of daylight either.  Now they’re coming in off the Intracoastal and robbing people that way. There was a reported incident in College Park where this happened recently and grand theft occurred when they stole $40,000 worth of mechanical equipment.

Commissioners, we must get serious about the rampant crime and come up with some solutions. Residents can’t be expected to patrol their streets 24/7/365.

I agree with you Lynn, after twenty years of living here it gets worse and worse. The police are not visible or present. It is like they are hiding until called to pick up dead bodies and take a report. The sheriff should be ashamed of himself and to let this area be so lawless with illegal immigrants too is another real problem we have. So many drive without licenses, registration, or insurance. The police want us to do their jobs, volunteers, yet they are paid but never present. I have lost all respect for our government and law enforcement in this city and country. It is lawless, I wonder if Trump can do something about it. I heard recently from an ex-military guy who said he is moving out of this country, he said the US trained and gave weapons and ammo, tons of it to ISIS. Too he said that the US has two ISIS training camps here in the US, one in GA and one in NY. He also said that the US protects all the pop plant fields in Asia and wants all these drugs here, having people on drugs and addicted is big business. It is sad that good law abiding citizens have lost all respect for their country and police as they do not enforce any laws anymore. Go to the beach here, dogs and alcohol galore, do you see a cop enforcing? NO, no right on read at Lucerne and Dixie, all turn right on red, do you see a cop enforcing it? NO. Cops are useless until after, there is no enforcement anymore. The are not present. I live in mango Grove and never see a cop go by. If our government and police want respect, they need to earn it and show it by doing their jobs! Thank you Lynn for caring and getting this info. out there to the public.

Some categories may be down, but burglary and murder are up!! So we are not placated, PBSO. We are very concerned.

I'm afraid I have to agree with you. Everything is covered up and papered over today; on every level, things you see with your own eyes. Rather than fear of the unknown, it's fear of the known that has gripped the country. Denial of the obvious. It only works for a little while folks; and then you will have to face the music. Today's United States is a test tube example of how well brainwashing works. I think the last time it worked this well was with the advent of communism. Lulled into a false sense of security, the American staggers along, wishing and hoping for a better world; no longer able to think for himself, he is led like a lamb to the eventual slaughter.

SOMEBODY on the Commission needs to grow some and call a meeting with THE Sheriff himself and demand an explaination. We pay more and have more crime! Is that how is works??????? Perhaps Comm. Ryan could do it.

Maybe it's time to think about private security vs. PBSO. It's worked in other cities.I respect PBSO,but they are just spread too thin . They are a reactionary force, not a Pro active force. if you have a robbery, you better pray that you are not third in line,it could take hours for an officer to even show up. There is NO patrol going on in our neighborhoods. Make the call like we are told to do,but really how much good does that even do? I will no longer go down town after dark unless I am with a group of people and at least one person in that group is armed.

The police here shush and cover everything up, they never want to admit there are serious problems. It is not safe here!

It is ironic too how the police here, sheriffs and state troopers all take their cop cars home, what is ironic is most of them live in gated communities, if you go into any gated community around here in Palm Beach, to visit friends or look at houses for sale, you will see tons of cop cars all who live in gated communities, so how is that helping all the bad areas of our hoods? Ironic! Cops and our government are so out of touch. Check out the gated communities for cop cars!
