Quote of the Day - Mayor Pam Triolo

Comment Up
"I think the people neglected the fact that the infrastructure was going to fail, or maybe the politicians put money into shiny objects (She swiped the word "shiny"  from Scott Maxwell) instead of the meat and potatoes because meat and potatoes don't win elections." See the video channel 12

~ Mayor Pam Triolo

Actually, our pipes are old and the mayor got the Water Department Director to confirm that for her but...these political blame games really trickle out of the woodwork around election time. Essentially there are three reasons why fire hydrants are flushed:
  • One, sediment builds up in the water lines and inside the hydrants. So they need to be flushed to remove the sediment.
  • Second, if the water department did any maintenance or repairs on the system, they would need to be flushed to remove any debris that got into the pipes during the repair.
  • Third, fire hydrants need to be tested to find out what their flow capacity is for firefighting purposes. In commercial and residential areas, they have to know if there is enough water available to extinguish a fire. This also lets them know if there are any faulty or shut off hydrants so that they can be repaired or replaced.

Embrace change as they say. The water director is gone, his previous engineer is gone as she did not want the director job, street lights are not doing what they were told they would do and now the new electric director is going to change the process again on the conversion and sacrifice hundreds of thousands of dollars to do this. Hold on folks we are in for craziness. Does anyone have a clue what they are doing.

WTF? Is Triolo insane? The people are begging for their streets to be repaired(meat and potatoes) but Triolo and the gang of three are too busy eating steak (an 11 million giveaway to developers for the Park of Commerce that we don't even own ).
The 63 million cash grab was criminal -only 30% (maybe) of our roads would have been touched.

I thought Larry Johnson was still the water director. Are more shananigans going on we don't know about? Maybe cbs will do more investigating.

@7:50--Larry Johnson IS the Water Utilities Director and the number 2 guy in the city...he is in charge when Bornstein is not around.

Remember Szerdi, Amoroso, and Maxwell were each going to get $800,000.00 to spend at their discretion within their districts.

Perhaps that is the reason they pushed so hard to shove this bond down our throats, even resorting to lies and firing the budget director who told the truth.

Can you imagine the bribes and kickbacks that would have been offered to them if they had gotten control of this cash?

Does anyone think they are above corruption?

Above corruption?? Not on your life! We just can't prove it. And we only get to see them up behind the dais, not hear what transpires in private between the gang of 3 and Bornstein. According to his explanation of the Sunshine Law: if there is a conduit going between people--they should be subject to the sunshine law also. But he makes an exception for himself when he is the conduit. I really wonder if Ryan and Chris receive the same info from him as the gang of 3. Many times at meetings I look up there and notice how the gang of 3 almost always acts in perfect accord with each other. Almost like its been rehearsed, especially the meeting where the ITN was introduced.
And as for pay to play: how about Benny's on the Beach donating 3 grand to their campaigns and taking away some of our precious little resident parking spaces? What dollar amount does that come out to per parking space taken away from us beach goers? And yes, it does make a difference. Some days I can't go to the beach at all now after driving down there with all my gear. And note on your parking sticker it now says buying one does in no way guarantee you will be able to use it.

Bennies at the beach pays 'rent' for the space they lease. Customers pay for their own parking, just like if to want to go to Mulligans, Kilwins, grab a slice of pizza, get a t-shirt or get a tan laying on the beach.

We do need infrastructure upgrades. No one disputes that, but putting tons of tax payer money into park of commerce instead of neighborhoods. As one of the few tax payers who would have had to pay, I was extremely concerned about the size of this debt service, the fact that only about a third of property owners would have had to pay and that my homestead would not protect me from this debt. So, asking me to put my home at risk to pay for neighborhood streets was a hard pill to swallow when I knew not everyone else was paying, but asking me to put my home at risk to pay for the park of commerce was beyond the pale. Luckily enough folks figured out the bait and switch and voted no.
