To Marco on Sanctuary Cities

Senator Marco Rubio
U.S. Senate, 317 Hart Senate Office Building
Washington, DC 20510

Dear Senator Rubio,

We are glad that the House has passed legislation to block some federal law enforcement funds going to sanctuary localities. It is time for the Senate to pass S. 1640, the Davis-Oliver Act, to block funding and prevent DHS from releasing criminal illegal aliens.

A recent Senate hearing into sanctuary localities hosted Laura Wilkerson, whose son Josh was beaten, tortured, and burned to death by an illegal alien. During the hearing, she said:

"This was our family's 9/11 terrorist attack by a foreign invader, whether you want to recognize it or whether you do not. This government continues to fail or even recognize that we have an issue. Americans are dying daily at the hands of criminals that we don't even know are here.

"You're officially notified today there's a problem when this happens. You can't deny it any longer. You cannot stand by and ignore our families -- our American families. You're elected by Americans, not any other country. You should be for Americans. If you want to sit quietly on the sidelines, you've thrown your hat into the ring already. Your silence speaks volumes. You're either for Americans, or you're not."

Following the House's decision to pass legislation to prevent sanctuary localities receiving some federal law enforcement funds, the onus is on the Senate to take action. You can take action by supporting and passing S. 1640, the Davis-Oliver Act. This legislation would make our communities safer by:

-- requiring localities to detain illegal aliens when directed to do so by ICE or have federal law enforcement funds withheld,
-- authorizing state and local law enforcement to enforce federal immigration laws,
-- requiring DHS to maintain an up-to-date database of all aliens subject to removal and ensure states have access to it,
-- requiring DHS to build additional detention facilities and provide grants to state and local law enforcement for equipment and facilities, and
-- requiring DHS to train state and local law enforcement agencies on immigration law and immigration enforcement.

This legislation would make our communities safer and I urge you to do all you can to get it passed.
Looking for your support,

Lynn Anderson

End sanctuary cities. It is one big horrible mess now. We don't have a country.
