Mayor Mocks Residents

Comment Up

At the July 30th meeting, the mayor insisted on getting her own way and that every resident who spoke structure their comments in the form of questions to the two companies who had presented their wishes and plans for our beach. She belittled residents who spoke who did not follow her format. She insinuated that one resident was just making a pompous and grandiloquent statement even saying, well what he said was "rhetorical." When residents spoke, they were condemned and one was called a liar by her for asking five questions.

This is the face of our city.

The Mayor's attitude was certainly not one of a public servant who's NUMBER ONE priority is to carry out the wishes of her citizens.
The majority Commission acts like they serve Hudson Holdings more than the people that showed up.
The Mayor made it VERY CLEAR that she has NO DESIRE to listen to the people of Lake Worth.

Message to Hudson Holdings- get the FUC$ out of our town.
Message to Scott ,Pam and Andy -Bye bye.
Message to Mike Bornstein-good luck EVER finding another job when the citizens of Lake Worth get done with you

The melodramatic and petulant behavior of both the Mayor and City Manager, demonstrated by each of them storming out of the meeting, she, after her tirade and he, after his whine make me wonder just how close they have become to Steven Michael and Hudson Holdings.
They both seem to want to impress Mr. Michael with how strongly committed they are to pushing his project down the throats of a city that wants nothing to do with his 22,000 sq. ft. of additional concrete at the beach- a fact that was made crystal clear by those who spoke at Thursdays meeting.

What will they gain by supporting his project so strongly?

Lynn, can you please tell us who the citizen was that the mayor called a liar? This is so wrong. We should be able to ask any question we want to and the mayor and commission need to start listening to the citizens of this city who vote, they represent US!

The City set this up to be the disaster it was (and is). The Commission should know that the beach is a very sensitive issue for the majority of residents here in LW. If there was a need or a desire for a redo or reconfiguration of the beach property/casino, the City should have engaged the residents FIRST. I know the CM wasn't here during the last 15 rounds on the beach, but he ought to know better as well.

Issuing an ITN and then engaging in under the radar meetings where participants, on the record, talk about manipulating voters is just plain stupid.

The Mayor and the CM have no one but themselves to blame for this mess. The public is very vested in the beach and the casino project, many of us campaigned against the Greater Bay proposal (which ended up in litigation), attended meetings after meetings about what we wanted, participated in voter referendums about control of beach, etc. The arrogance of these two and others simply boggles the mind. HH is not some white knight who is going to save LW, they are simply and deliberately working behind the scenes and elsewhere to get their hand on our prime real estate so they can profit. They care nothing about our City or what we want or don't want.

I totally agree with the above posters. I couldn't believe that Szerdi had the nerve to even show his face at city hall, MUCH LESS BE THE PRESENTER FOR HUDSON HOLDINGS !!!!! This loser was just recently a CITY COMMISSIONER !!! Now we see him sitting butt cheek to butt cheek next to Hudson Holdings? We sure are earning the title "corruption county" Too bad we have a useless horses ass as our county inspector general.

Do we have any rules against former commissioners or former staff lobbying the City? This seems really unseemly, that a recent commissioner would lobby his former colleagues so soon after losing an election (that, was likely lost b/c of his behind the scenes consulting for HH).

Here are FLL rules, they have a one year ban on lobbying by commissioners, staff, etc.
