Hands off our Beach

Comment Up

Letters to the Editor
Palm Beach Post

Beach decisions are for residents only

The only presentation concerning the welfare of the Lake Worth Beach should have been with the people who live in Lake Worth and enjoy this space — not to outside developers whose sole purpose is to make a profit.

We should fix what needs to be fixed by the means available, and then use this unique space for the benefit of not only the city of Lake Worth but for everybody. The only people who lose are the ones in favor of privatizing a public space. Hands off our beach.

Not sure whether or not your comment @10:08 is sincere but I will say this, the only well thought out idea one needs is HANDS OFF OUR BEACH. This writer, I believe, holds an opinion that the majority in our city hold.

Right. Let's fix what we have and keep the profits in LW, not give them to a developer. Didn't we try this with Greater Bay? Why do people want to outsource our assets? Are they nuts?

When was the public meeting stating solid financial facts
(seems as of budget meeting 8.11.15 they still aren't 'solid')
about the beach and the people were ASKED what to do to fix it?

That never happened and to suggest people who dislike this should
have well thought out plans with out a Meeting To SHARE THOSE PLANS
is nothing more than a big steamy pile of BS when the CM played the
boss of US and only invited a commissioner to join in AFTER HE MADE
THE DECISION FOR US to do a SECRET ITN! Thank God the audio came out
before the election so we could hear it for ourselves - don't comment
till you listen! It WAS ELECTION TAMPERING from our reps/employees own
mouths!

Here's the link - listen to what is really happened and why you all
should all be pizzed off by it!

10:29 They are not nuts. They are greedy pigs. The idea that a city manager thought a secret process to tell US,THE CITIZENS of Lake Worth what was going to happen at our beach is so arrogant and inappropriate , it's hard to wrap your head around it.And less than a year after now EX Commissioner John Szerdi got his ass handed to him for supporting a Hudson Holdings takeover of the beach, he is seen in the city hall Chambers sitting butt cheek to butt cheek with Hudson Holdings as their employee and PRESENTER of their imaginary beach plan !!! It's time for some changes, beginning with this Commission and City Manager.

The city manager & commission are all corrupt beauricrats.

The city manager is incompetent and should be fired for trying to turn our beach over to developers without our input fairly. We need to vote our pam, andy, and scott. WE need to keep our beach the way it is, no more games and lies from the CM and commission. Kick them the hell out of city hall.

Steve Michael of Hudson holdings has some creepy connections and thats not his complete name, he does have a last name.

Speaking of the Post-Here's some ideas for their "reporter" Kevin;

Hey KEVIN-Do a story on what goes on in Andy's back room. And find out how many aliases he uses while you're at it.
Hey KEVIN-do a story on Mayor Triolo breaking federal ATF laws by having her brew and cigs delivered out to her car.
Hey KEVIN-Do a story on William Scot Maxwell and why he left his job at Burger King.
Hey Kevin-do a story on where Hudson Holdings came from and why Boynton Beach was smart enough to say NO THANKS ! Do a story on what's going on with the Gulfstream hotel and how Hudson Holdings lied to anybody that would listen to them when they came into town.

Another words Kevin, get your head out of the city managers ass and do a real story.

A public records search doesn't show James Thomson owning a home in LW. It's easy to sit in the bleachers, yelling at the team on the field telling them how you think they should be playing the game. You can't win the game from the sideline. Get some skin in the game first.

Anyone who is a resident of Lake Worth has a voice, anonymous @3:17...even people who file bankruptcy, homes that have been foreclosed upon, renters, etc.

Let's start with the question about what the problem is at the beach. Everytime I go, its well populated with people at the beach, at the shops, having pizza, eating at Mulligans, etc. I see lots and lots of people at our beach, lots of weddings in the banquet room and on the beach, etc. Said, another way it seems like its very popular and I think if you started polling people there they might have some suggestions, but based on popularity, its successful.

The parking lot is often very busy and close to being full. Is that a problem, maybe, but again that tells me its popular. Maybe we need to encourage more public transportation like the trolley, maybe a few more bike racks to encourage bikes. Maybe parking fees should be increased, I like the idea of cheaper first and second hour, and third and more price goes up, etc.

The biggest problem, in my opinion, is the pool. The pool is fabulous, it was recently redone, the baby pool is open, it is in great condition. But, the problem is that the pool's hours are so limited its underused. Pool hours should be extended into the evening, at least a couple of days a week. The locker rooms and bath rooms at the pool are in terrible condition but we would be better off leaving them as is, until we can fix them ourselves.

It would be great for second floor space to be utilized by restaurant, but if its determined that is no longer a good fit, then why not turn it into a second ballroom/venue space. We should also increase rental fees for ballroom at least on Fri/Sat/Sun. and especially for non-residents.
