Commissioner McVoy said, "I did not vote!

Comment Up
And I've got the power
to shut all of you up even an elected commissioner

It's happened before but Tuesday night was much more right-in-your-face. Mayor Triolo conducted a bizarre meeting in her usual officious manner with total idiosyncractic moments. Something was not quite right. There were several missteps/errors several of which involved commissioner McVoy and treating him as if he were invisible. And she forgot the Electric Utility Director's part of the agenda.  We need a Parliamentarian or at least someone paying attention to the meeting...is it only the city attorney's job to read resolutions at $205 an hour?  Perhaps that gal from N. C. Street who spoke about procedure and quoted from our Charter as well as the Rules of Procedure reminding us to "respect" the mayor who is driving the meeting whether she is right or wrong or just plain forgetful.

Triolo almost forgot Public Participation but the clerk caught that one. One of the biggest errors was when she said she had a motion on the floor to approve the Consent Agenda.  There was NEVER a motion on the floor when she stopped McVoy in his tracks to pull two items. We talked about that yesterday.  Even the city clerk "remembered" that there was a motion and a second to approve the agenda. "You hear what you want to hear" is the mantra of the day.

The biggest error was when the commission finally got to Public Hearings on Ordinance 2015-02  for the First Reading which was amending the Comprehensive Plan  to include a ten year water supply plan.  A Motion was made by Commissioner Amoroso and a 2nd by an unidentified commissioner. Triolo asked if there were any public comment cards. She never asked for commissioner comments.  McVoy never had an opportunity to make any comments when the mayor asked for the vote. She stated that a motion was made and passed and the vote was 4/1.  McVoy wanted to know about commissioner comments. McVoy said that he NEVER voted...."I was not asked if there were any comments from the commission," said McVoy. The Mayor said she was sorry but the vote was taken. "Your call, said McVoy, but I would have liked having a chance to discuss it."   The City Clerk then stated that the vote was 5/0. We can only assume that the clerk took it upon herself to correct the vote, from 4/1 because McVoy said he was in favor of passing it.

But, but but, but...McVoy NEVER voted.

As Vice Mayor Maxwell said during the meeting, "You hear what you want to hear" and he, along with everyone sitting on the dais, fell into that very trap.

What's with you and guns and bullets, Lynn?

The City of Lake Worth would be smart to check you and your possessions before you attend a hearing.

Just sayin'.

Wouldn't have any problem with that, anonymous. I want to feel safe around YOU.

Was there a PBSO deputy there on Tuesday night...one that could stand behind Peter Timm as he was called dumb? Didn't see one.

In light of the bizarre behavior by some on the dais Tuesday night, perhaps drug testing before each meeting would be a good idea???

It was beyond bizarre!

The mayor has successfully shut down the public (we're averaging 2 min a month for public comment) now she's doing the exact same thing by trying to shut down 1 other elected commissioner!

This 'ya get one go at it' is completely made up by the Mayor and is her personal (frightening actually) preference and against the rules we were told about too! Any commissioner has the right to debate till done! Now if that goes past 30 min they can legally move it to a workshop.

I watched the video. Is the mayor just not well? Perhaps she has medical problems or something or her mind is on other things. I think it's because all of this is decided behind the scenes and mcvoy is not privy to any of that discussion. Even so, the public has the right to know.

how many hours will the city lawyer charge us to find a retired constitutional law judge?

The Mayor was the only one who voted with McVoy to move items from the consent agenda. She agreed with him. The others were the bullies

Can it get any worse than this commission? The best ever they tell us with Triolo, maxwell, Amoroso and Zerdi. I don't believe it can.
