Affordable Housing Rentals on Lake Worth Road

Comment Up

We continue to get the political bull from one commissioner in particular, that the rental rates that Affordable Housing Solutions is charging for the Villages of Lake Worth a/k/a/ the "project" at Lake Worth Road and Boutwell is NOT affordable housing at all but "workforce" housing and it is at market rate. The city continues to try and fool you saying that there is a difference in 'affordable" and "workforce" housing. The Vice Mayor will even ask for confirmation on the distinction from the city manager, to get it on the record.  We all know it is one and the same. And at every commission meeting, there is always one commissioner who will tell us how beautiful this all looks. And they are building more.

The Villages of Lake Worth, located at 2220 Lake Worth Road have rents from $990 for a one bedroom up to $1,390 for a 3 bedroom. They do not have efficiency or 4 bedroom apartments.

What HUD considers affordable:

FY2014 Fair Market Rent Summary according to HUD

Palm Beach County, Florida

Efficiency 1 Bedroom 2 Bedrooms 3 Bedrooms 4 Bedrooms
Final FY2014 FMRs $750 $962 $1,202 $1,623 $1,938

It's what we used to call "the projects' but this has a cherry on top!

Tell us again how home ownership is the answer and the rentals (slumlords) are the problem - interesting you say one thing but do the exact opposite or EXACTLY WHAT YOU HAVE SAID IS THE PROBLEM!

How many people can we shove onto our roads?

Roads - what roads?
We all want to live work & play and can walk or bike where we want to go - haven't you heard - it's what we all want in LW - must've missed the meeting where they decided for us - like Bush - they are the deciders - like it or not!

Drive by and see the 1 story house west of this monster. Reminds me of Averil Harriman in NY when Tuxedo Park wouldn't allow him in - he built on the hill so he could "Look Down On Them" - anyone interested in Land Banking 3 lots in a row in Parrot Cove and doing the same to some who claim we have 'solid' LDR's and Rules in LW?

Donate enough money to candidates and you can "Pay to Play" by giving community benefits - whatever that means...the properties are close to the beach and even closer to the golf course - w/the right 'green' combo ya might get 3-5 stories in a single family neighborhood! What a deal/steal in tax footprint for the city - 3 old homesteaded houses or possibly 10 - 12 expensive new condos fully taxed - some w/a water view...Move in the green monster - give them a desk & 2 chairs - Lake Worth - You're good to go!

Devil is always in the details - pay attention or pay the price...
