Satanist next at Lake Worth City Hall?

Comment Up
Now a Satanist wants to deliver the invocation before a future city commission meeting. Click here

Mr. Bornstein;

My name is Chaz Stevens, father of the Pabst Blue Ribbon Festivus Pole. In case you’re not familiar with me (I dunno, you live in a cave), here’s a recent story about my pole. I’d like permission to give a Satanic, yes Satan, invocation at an upcoming City Commission meeting.

Everyone is welcome to sing along, or as is the recent case when Miami atheist activist Preston Smith gave the invocation, like Elvis, they can leave the building.

This will fit right in w/the Bohemian Grove Owl downtown!

Let's see how the Mayor stays 'positive' through all this!

received in an e-mail--
This is a great illustration of the slippery slope effect and also a great method to stop invocations altogether. As with gay marriage and other examples of deviancy (meaning behavior outside of the historical and social norm) acknowledging this deviancy only brings it to the forefront and diminishes what has held this great country together from its founding.

At least Chaz has not threatened to rape a teen girl! He wants to get up at that podium and make a fool of himself, he has a right to. God knows he will not be the first or last of the characters that will pop out of the woodwork. Maybe even the Spaghetti God worshippers. Hey it is a free country, even for clowns.

Merry Christmas,

Mark, I know you believe this but do you really believe that Preston would be a teacher in the Palm Beach County School system if this allegation were true? How could this happen?

While the USA was built on Christian beliefs, our public schools too, all is changing, we need to embrace change and accept other people, cultures, and globalization. Gays too! We need to allow all to come to pray in our meetings, prayer, any form, is what God wants. I pray to our Holy Mother everyday that all people pray more for us all. It is OK, to allow a Jewish rabbi. or Muslim priest to come and pray too. We all need to be open, even if three of the 5 commission are Catholic, Catholics are supposed to be more opening and welcoming of others, it is a universal apostolic church, it will take anyone, you do not need to be born Catholic. They still love gays, Jews, Muslims, etc, so the leaders should set an example of real Christianity and allow all to come and pray and work toward conversion and be examples.

That's exactly what the commission did--because the law of the land dictates it. Perhaps the word "invocation" should be more narrowly defined for our commission meetings to a form of prayer invoking God's presence, especially one said at the beginning of a religious service or public ceremony. maybe the city attorney can look into this idea. But a wise azz satanist? Really?

Lynn, Satan surrounds us, that is why we need prayer, maybe if we can get them to come and pray, we can then have conversion for them? WWJD? Maybe we should open it to all to come and pray. Whether you agree or not, WE NEED more prayer and the presence of God in our lives and government, especially with these leaders. God bless you Lynn for all you do for our city. I can see God in you!

Lynn unfortunately it is possible for him to be a teacher and have done this, Preston is living proof of that. The former Principal of Lake Worth, Mr. Howell, had a prison record for choking his wife while slamming her through a wall. That was one of the reasons I helped some students, who came to me for assistance in organizing a protest. I was out their with them every morning for two weeks chanting and holding up signs that he had to go. The press covered it and the next school year we had Dr. Lockhart. A teacher can even get arrested and still keep their job they are just required by law to inform administration. I confirmed this by asking Jeff who has been a teacher in Palm Beach County for 27years. Chaz is a media whore wise ass for sure. You can see it in the tone of his arrogant email to our City Manager "In case you’re not familiar with me (I dunno, you live in a cave)..." You would think Tom Cruise was emailing our CM. Wow...OK you get a pole of beer cans displayed on the State Capital Lawn only by threat of a lawsuit and that is an accomplishment to be a celebrity over? Not in my book. I just hope that the commission has enough sense to book a second person to recite the prayer after the clown act and we can get on with our meeting! He is under a time limit so we can exit the chambers for a breath of fresh air and then back in for the real prayer.

Merry Christmas,

This is why prayer or invocation should not be permitted at City meetings. To have Christian or Jewish or Muslim prayer is to exclude those that don't believe, and the City is going to end up getting sued.

The Congress and Senate have prayer but we will be sued? We could be sued if we deny free speech.
