One of the reasons why we don't like the Chamber of Commerce
Lawsuits are always interesting. It always seems like the bad guys win. We're going to settle with Street Outdoor LLC that used to be called City Solutions. On Tuesday night the commission will vote to give them $20,000 to get out of our hair ( better than $1.6 million that went to the flim flam man).
After they got this 10 year contract back in May 2004 (Romano regime) the billboard company decided that they were going to add 4 more locations not included in the contract. The locations in question were racks at Lucerne Avenue and G Street; at Lake Avenue and G Street; at Dixie Highway at North Eighth Street; and at Dixie Highway and North Seventh Street. These locations were not part of the original contract that provided for only 20 locations throughout our city and the city eventually picked the additional ones up. We now have 3 racks in our possession.
So essentially, they installed some racks on City rights of way without City permission and not in the contract. The company accepted and made money off of political advertisements that were against city ordinance. The city never got a dime from the deal. The city took the illegal racks down. They sued. We settled. Their contract was over in May 2014. And now they're out of here for good.
Now if we only could get rid of those billboards on I-95 (Clemens regime)...another bad decision.

I'm thinking of suing the city. Even if I have no claim its clear the City will pay me off, even if I'm in the wrong the City will still pay me off.
Great gig. Yes, litigation is expensive and there is some risk to it, but the City of LW is, after years of caving left and right, known as weak. It would be better for the City to fight on two or three strong cases, even though it might cost more, b/c it will save money in the long run as people will respect the City and not expect us to pay off left and right even when we are the injured party.
Your former city manager removed the in question newsracks (that were permitted but she failed to research the permits), there removal was a breach of contract. she screwed up and the city is bound to pay for her mistake...you dont know all the facts of the contract. we also know that you Ms Anderson took out an AD on one of the racks for a local politician.
Seems a bit hypocritical.

Prove it! Let's see the document. As you should know, anything of this nature was brought before our legal department. Also as you should know, people will sue for anything. And we should definitely know by now, LW settles everything.
Next, I NEVER took out an ad for anyone. I never paid this company for an ad to be on their news racks.
Get your facts straight before posting BS. The city allowed ads on these racks even though there were complaints that it was against ordinance.
