Lake Worth's Electric Utility

Comment Up
Tonight, the Electrical Utility Advisory Board will meet with the City Commission to bring forth the EUAB's  prioritized list of pros and cons regarding our electric utility. This has all come about because of certain highly visible and vocal residents who have been touting the sale of our electric utility over the years.

Without knowing even its value and how a sale would affect our operating budget, the Electric Utility Advisory Board was charged to consider 3 options for the electric utility:
  • To Rebuild and Upgrade the Tom Smith Power Plant
  • To Sell the Electric Utility
  • To Extend the current Orlando Utility Commission’s contract.
There will be a Power Point presentation. You don't want to miss this meeting as this analysis is something we have asked for and have wanted ever since a few citizens, who bent the ear of this commission, brought up the idea of selling our electric plant to FPL. They have been complaining about our high cost of electricity. The chair of the EUAB has advocated its sale for years and tonight we will find out her latest position. Hopefully, we will get an informative and unbiased report.

The meeting should go something like this.

"We're one up from the poorest city in the county and w/out a replacement for the 'Electric Cash Cow' (More than we collect in Property taxes) there is no other option in reality available!"
