West Palm Beach puts demands on companies wanting to do business with the city

West Palm Beach commissioners voted 3-2 at Monday’s regular meeting to approve on first reading a rule that the city will make contracts worth more than $50,000 only with people or businesses that provide equal benefits to employees’ domestic partners.

Commissioners Kimberly Mitchell and Shanon Materio were opposed--a good decision.

They swear an oath to the US Constitution and according to the 1st Amendment they have NO AUTHORITY or "shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof;"

Preamble to Bill of Rights:
THE Conventions of a number of the States, having at the time of their adopting the Constitution, expressed a desire, in order to prevent misconstruction (Misunderstanding) or abuse of its powers, that further declaratory (Legal Description/Interpretation) and restrictive (Limited/Limiting) clauses should be added: And as extending the ground of public confidence in the Government, will best ensure the beneficent ends of its institution.

Amendment I
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
