Lake Worth Beach - a Parking Design Nightmare

Comment Up

Commissions come and go and in some ways, there has never been the ideal commission--you know, the one that makes all the correct decisions. They vote to outsource our police and fire costing us control and millions more; they vote to buy water from PB County rather than build our own RO plant; they waste millions and they voted to ruin our beach.

We have talked about this from the inception of the design plan. No one listened. This is the most ridiculous parking configuration imaginable. Two sides of parked cars backing onto two way oncoming traffic and into each other. We warned you for three years and all we ever got were dead eyes and blank stares.

The parking was just fine before commissioners voted to ruin our beach. People went crazy about all things green. People go to the beach--they don't go there to look at grass. They want convenient parking. This is an accident waiting to happen and accidents will happen, guaranteed.

This is now a two way street/parking lot combination! Even a bag boy at Publix could have designed this better. A non-architect would not have screwed this up so badly. Rearranging parking lots cost $5 million dollars on a Bond we have been paying on since 2004 PLUS we have to pay over a million more for infrastructure and lighting.

The blame of this nightmare is directly on the heads of a past commission but all subsequent commissions, especially this commission, could have stopped the madness.

Beach access is at a premium in south east Florida.Palm Beach County Commissioners in the past were very short-sighted in providing public access to the Ocean.Public access is a joke in most enclaves along the coast. If they do admit to their bothersome "PUBLIC" access, they put miles of NO PARKING signs on either side of it.No dirty little public scum in their neighborhoods!!! Manalapan's public access has disappeared under a fire station and ocean front mansions. So what does a brain dead former Commission here in Lake Worth do? TAKE AWAY PUBLIC PARKING and easy access for it's residents and visitors!!! Sometimes I don't know who's worse-the naked chicken idiots or the greedy growth whores.Either way it's tough to get to the beach.

I agree it's an accident waiting to happen. 2 Way traffic, cars backing out on both sides and little kids who are so excited about going to the beach and don't listen to their parents to stay next to the car...

Dangerous!

Why didn't Szerdi ever speak up as to what was going on up there?

I agree that the parking lot situation is dangerous. It should be done that way if these people got good thinking and rationale.
