Who Can You Trust?

No candidate ever asks for my opinion. Actually all candidates should be out there asking for EVERYONES's opinion in order to GET IT RIGHT. It is, afterall, what the voter thinks, not what the candidate says is good for us. If one were to ask me how to proceed going forward I would tell them to—
  • 1. stop talking about what you have done in the past
  • 2. start talking about how you will solve our problems in the future
  • 3. stop talking about high electric rates
  • 4. start talking about how you will lower them
  • 5. stop talking about making government more efficient
  • 6. start talking about what you will do step by step to achieve that
  • 7. stop talking about our blighted neighborhoods
  • 8. start talking about exactly what you will do to correct it

In other words, stop all the BULL. We heard plenty of it last night. Stop playing it safe in your campaign. Give us some substance. We all want safe neighborhoods. Everyone puts that on a campaign flier. But what specifically will you do to achieve that end? At the moment, we spend more than we can afford on public safety. Next year, under our contract, it is a guarantee that we will pay more. Tell me how we will be able to continue on as a City.

To me it is the same principle as opening up a money market. You look at the bank, its rating, its interest rate and you choose the best one for your investment, one that you can trust. It is the same thing with this city and who we elect into office. No one wants business as usual. We can no longer afford that concept.

Commissioner and Mayoral positions are full-time positions that pay "nothing." We need to raise the pay standard where more qualified people will want to participate. Being Mayor today is no longer just a ceremonial job. Look what has happened to our City in the last decade. We have had commissions that have hired the wrong people and consequently we have all been on one long train wreck. We have commissions, once elected to office, that ONLY listen to their core friends. This has cost us millions in waste. This has changed our city from what it was to what it is today--crime driven, over crowded, populated by gangs and non-citizens and it has cost us dearly-- 67% rentals because NO ONE WANTS TO LIVE HERE. And we are nearly broke.

The guy who will win will be the one we can trust.
