Shuffling at the Shuffleboard Courts

Comment Up

Driving down Lake Avenue around 9:30, I counted 28 people hanging out on the street. The Shuffleboard Court had some seniors playing so I stopped to find out the latest.

They are doing the best that they can under lousy circumstances. That is the bottom line. Very few of them think that their concerns are being heard. They bring their own "beads" in order for the disc to move better and say that the courts are not in good shape and the entire facility has decayed. They pointed out broken benches, broken scoreboards literally yanked off the posts, beer bottles and trash. Someone from the City now comes early in the morning to clean up the debris--debris that NEVER WAS THERE before The Mentoring Center.

The next solution so that they can live in harmony with those "hanging out" on their courts will be to fence in the two areas closest to the parking lot, make the area on the far left closest to the building "green" space for all those who just want to "hang out" thus removing all those courts. God, whose idea was the green space?

Now I want to say, if you are my closest friend, a relative, what have you, and you don't take a stand on this, you will NOT get my vote. I do not want to hear a "cop out" about it being a Federal problem. It is OUR problem and someone must solve it. Who says that we have to re-design and spend money on our entire shuffleboard courts for illegal aliens? Who said that we have to put up with the total ruination of our property?

Hi everyone.. I cannot help but comment here.. I was a volunter at the mentoring center and hung out there way before Lisa and Don moved in and started the Center.. The shuffleboard courts have been a hangout since the arrival of the guatamalins in Lake Worth and I am not sure when that started.. The mentoring center was not the point where we started seeing beer bottles.. drunks ect.. In fact Lisa and Don did clean that up quite a bit.. When Mrs T , Sue and Darrel were up there and in charge and it was the parks and recreation department it was WORST.. Lake Worth police did little to keep it clean of drunks ect It is the location of the courts that attracts the activity, It is right in the middle of lil guatamala.. So when the locals want to rest. eat without returning to their home.. have a seat.. Thats the nearest most convienient place to socialize drink a beer whatever..Americans have just a bad as a problem with substance abuse as central americans, I hear and sense a lot of hate when it comes to the illegals. I don't know what the solution is but there are as many good illegals here as bad and in that I mean, hard working people who only want to work and feed their familys and I don't think many of us have seen living conditons in some of our neigboring forienge countrys. There are some illegals that need to be deported they dont want to work. They expect a hand out. I totally agree but there are some who learn english. hold a job.. actually i have met some that have their own business.. many infact.. Look at Palm Beach county booking blotter.. The biggest crimes done by the illegals is driving without DL.. The new park at the shuffle board courts is not going the change the people it will attract.. That area is primaraly Guatamalin so that is who we are going to see there with any of their vices. ect
